Polymers

Arcoplex Group, a dynamic industrial entity deeply rooted in various market segments, is a leader in the distribution of high-quality plastic materials.

The ABS polymers, belonging to the styrenic family, are plastic materials widely used for their excellent mechanical properties and versatility. ABS is a copolymerization of Acrylonitrile, Butadiene, and Styrene, which combined offer a material with unique characteristics.

Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene: ABS is SAN (Styrene-Acrylonitrile) with the addition of rubber (Butadiene). This combination gives the material good impact resistance and various formulation variants, such as heat-resistant and flame-retardant reinforced types.

Technical Properties

  • Density: 1.04 g/cmยณ
  • Shrinkage: 0.4-0.7%
  • Drying: 2-4 hours at 80ยฐC
  • Molding Temperature: 190-220ยฐC
  • Mold Temperature: 30-60ยฐC
  • Structure: amorphous

The ASA polymers, belonging to the styrenic family, are plastic materials widely used for their exceptional mechanical properties.

Acrylonitrile-Styrene-Acrylate (ASA): the combination of these three components provides a material with high impact resistance, similar to ABS, but with improved UV resistance.

Technical Properties

  • Density: 1.07 g/cmยณ
  • Shrinkage: 0.4-0.7%
  • Drying: 2-4 hours at 80ยฐC
  • Molding Temperature: 200-230ยฐC
  • Mold Temperature: 40-80ยฐC
  • Structure: amorphous
  • Impact Resistance: comparable to ABS, making it suitable for applications requiring robustness.
  • Thermal Resistance: good thermal stability, allowing use in environments with temperature variations.
  • UV Resistance: offers UV resistance similar to PMMA, making it ideal for outdoor applications.
  • Aging Resistance: high resistance to aging due to UV exposure.

Ethylene Butyl Acrylate Copolymer (EBA) is a flexible material with a high melting point, high thermal stability, good heat sealing performance, and good low-temperature impact resistance.

Technical Properties

  • Appearance: transparent or opaque, depending on the formulation
  • Density: 0.92 - 0.94 g/cmยณ
  • Melt Flow Index (MFI): 0.5 - 20 g/10 min (at 190ยฐC/2.16 kg)
  • Melting Temperature: 60 - 90ยฐC

Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate (EVA) is a copolymer composed of ethylene and vinyl acetate. It is known for its excellent elasticity, flexibility, transparency, and adhesiveness. It is used in numerous applications due to its thermoplastic properties and the wide range of characteristics that can be modified by varying the vinyl acetate content.

Technical Properties

  • Appearance: Transparent or slightly opaque
  • Density: 0.93 - 0.95 g/cmยณ
  • Melt Flow Index (MFI): 0.3 - 40 g/10 min (at 190ยฐC/2.16 kg)
  • Melting Temperature: 85 - 95ยฐC
PA/PP polymers are blends or composite copolymers consisting of polyamide (PA) and polypropylene (PP). These materials combine the mechanical and thermal properties of polyamide with the lightness and chemical resistance of polypropylene, resulting in materials with balanced properties suitable for various industrial applications.Technical PropertiesAppearance: Variable (opaque, translucent), depending on the formulation Density: 0.95 โ€“ 1.10 g/cmยณ Melt Flow Index (MFI): 5 โ€“ 30 g/10 min (at 230ยฐC/2.16 kg) Melting Temperature: 160 โ€“ 220ยฐC Glass Transition Temperature (Tg): -10ยฐC to +50ยฐC (variable depending on composition) Chemical Resistance: Good resistance to many acids, bases, solvents, and hydrocarbons Water Absorption: Variable based on PA content (can be reduced with specific formulations)
Polyamide 11 (PA 11) is a polymer derived from renewable resources, specifically castor oil. It is known for its excellent chemical resistance and low hygroscopicity, making it ideal for a wide range of applications.
  • Low Hygroscopicity: PA 11 absorbs less moisture compared to other polyamides, thus maintaining its mechanical properties in humid environments.
  • High Chemical Resistance: PA 11 offers excellent resistance to a variety of chemicals.
  • Flexibility: It provides good flexibility, making it suitable for applications requiring a certain degree of deformation without breaking.
  • Derived from Renewable Resources: Being derived from castor oil, it is a more sustainable choice compared to other polyamides.
Technical Properties
  • Density: Approximately 1.03 g/cmยณ
  • Melting Temperature: 185-190ยฐC
  • Tensile Strength: 50-55 MPa
