PE (PolyEthylene): it is a semi-crystalline polymer belonging to the family of polyolefins and like all semicrystalline polymers has high chemical resistance (resistance to contact with chemical compounds). It can be polymerized becoming: Low Density Polyethylene (LD-PE), High Density Polyethylene (HD-PE), Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLD-PE), Metallocene Linear Low Density Polyethylene (mLLD-PE) EthyleneVinylAcetate (EVA), EthylleneButilAcrylate (EBA). There are various formulations dedicated to processing technologies: injection molding, extrusion, film technology, blow. The difference in density between the LD-PE and HD-PE leads to an increase of the rigidity (HD-PE stiffer than LD-PE). It is used mainly in the packaging, films and containers, LD-PE is mainly dedicated to the production of films in both packaging and industrial applications. HD-PE, given its rigidity, is widely used in the production of bottles. The low melting point of EVA and EBA leads to use these polymers as HotMelt, production of foamed articles and various gadgets.
